要申請Fall 2018入學的申請者請注意！Common Application參考來自各方所給予的不同迴響，包含此系統的會員學校、使用過此系統的申請者、系統所屬的諮詢委員會以及董事會等等，在2017年2月初發布了2017-2018新一年度的申論題題目。
新一年度的題目有哪些改變呢？
- 第1與第4題沒有任何改變；
- 第2、3與5題僅有部分內容改變；
- 新增第6與第7題；第6題是讓學生分享自己在知識方面產生好奇心的例子；第7題則是恢復過去曾經使用過的題目 -“由申請者自己選擇主題”，重新協助申請者了解，申論題可以從多重來源取得寫作靈感，不需要侷限於自我的創造力。
以下是修訂後的題目，申請者從7題中選擇1題，字數限制仍然維持最多不可超過650字的規定。(帶有刪除線的斜體字為被修改的舊版題目內容，僅供參考)
2017-2018 Common Application Essay Prompts
1. Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story. [本題沒有任何改變]
2. The lessons we take from failure obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount an incident or time a time when you experienced failure faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience? [本題修訂部分內容]
3. Reflect on a time when you questioned or challenged a belief or idea. What prompted you to act your thinking? Would you make the same decision again? What was the outcome? [本題修訂部分內容]
4. Describe a problem you've solved or a problem you'd like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma - anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution. [本題沒有任何改變]
5. Discuss an accomplishment, event, formal or informal, or realization that marked your transition from childhood to adulthood within your culture, community, or family sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others. [本題修訂部分內容]
6. Describe a topic, idea, or concept you find so engaging that it makes you lose all track of time. Why does it captivate you? What or who do you turn to when you want to learn more? [本題為新題目]
7. Share an essay on any topic of your choice. It can be one you've already written, one that responds to a different prompt, or one of your own design. [本題為新題目]
