1. “Good riddance” |
Meaning:
you are happy to get rid of something that you do not like
Example:
“Those buildings look terrible. It will be good riddance when they are demolished.”

2. “The holiday spirit” |
Meaning:
a general excitement about an up-coming holiday
Example:
“December isn’t here yet and I’m already feeling the holiday spirit.”

3.“To beat the holiday blues” |
Meaning:
to overcome the stress and frustration resulting from holiday preparation or resulting from the need to get back to your usual routine after a holiday
Example:
“When I want to beat the holiday blues I always think about the fact that soon it will be over.”

4. “Get the picture” |
Meaning:
to understand the situation or someone
Example:
I think I get the picture. Mary doesn’t want to leave, she just wants higher pay.”

5. “Be my guest” |
Meaning:
a polite way to let someone know that they should help themselves to something
Example:
