With Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year on their way, here are a couple of festive idioms:

1. “in full swing”

Meaning:
Something has begun and is now over halfway through.

Example:
“Chinese New Year is now in full swing.”

2. “half-hearted”

Meaning:
Doing something without enthusiasm or much effort.

Example:
“It was a half-hearted attempt.”

3.“out with the old, in with the new”

Meaning:
This idiom is about starting something new whilst getting rid of old things at the same time.

Example:
“This year I’ve decided to go out with the old and in with the new. I’ve sold all of my old clothes and bought new ones.”

4. “winds of change”

Meaning:
You feel like a big change in a positive way is coming soon.

Example:
“After the protests that we saw, I can feel a wind of change coming.”

5. “heart of gold”

Meaning:
A person who is innocent and pure.

Example:
“My sister has a heart of gold.”
