從小開始,我的父母就對於學習英文這件事情很要求,希望我學得開心又能學得好。我很感謝一路上遇到的老師們都很有耐心又很專業,給了我輕鬆又開心的學習環境。而在英國攻讀英語教育碩士那年,無論知識層面或是生活上,都給了我很大的衝擊,在那時候,英文的意義回到最原點,溝通。人與人之間、人與學識之間的溝通工具,往往在實際大量使用它時,才更懂得自己在學習英文還有許多不足的地方,也讓我時常覺得自己是和學生一起學習,並一起使用英文去溝通、認識彼此。

而藉由自己的經驗、觀察,以及學校課堂上的分享,我開始發現不同的人在學習英文上會有不同的困難,更懂得學習一個語言要投入的時間和心力沒有定值,每個人的方法和經歷都不一樣,但不變的是態度和心境。藉由正確的學習態度以及樂觀的心境,才能學得開心又學得好,也因此,我期許給自己的學生一個快樂且輕鬆的環境,在快樂的環境中使他們不排斥英文、甚至培養學生透過英文來思考,自然而然將之視為第二語言,而非一外國語。

As a teacher, I am trying my best to provide my students a natural and comfortable environment when they learn English. I believe that learning English is better if they feel comfortable to using it. It would also be better for the students to treat English as a second language rather than as a foreign language. I always encourage my students to read extensively and keep it as a habit. In my opinion, extensive reading can naturally help students to learn English better and raise their awareness of English.

As an English user, I treat English only as a tool to communicate with people. The more I use it, the more I find that there are still a lot of things I need to work on. The best two things as a teacher and a user are to learn with the students and to understand their learning difficulties while teaching. It offers me a chance to examine myself to see what could be worked on to make me a better user and teacher. I will continue to use different approaches and methods to teach the students, by understanding their personality and their difficulties.

自從小學三年級開始接觸學校英文,我就漸漸愛上學習英文。求學的過程當中,我一直是擔任班上的英文小老師,除了督促自己英文成績要保持在一定的水準外,也很樂意教導班上的同學,而在發現學校有舉辦英文相關的活動時,我一定是勇於去挑戰自己。
因著對於英文的學習保有非常高的熱情,讓我在高中畢業時,毅然決然地申請了文藻外語大學的外語教學系,畢業後就投身於兒童美語教學的領域中,在多年的教學歷程當中,我常常詢問自己:到底是什麼支持我持續往前走?
我發現孩子一點點的改變和進步常常是我持續往前的動力,也因此,總是期許自己能應用多年的教學經驗和專業,啟發和引導孩子對於學習英文的興趣和習慣,希望孩子們學到的不只學習到英文的知識,也能成為他們未來能帶得走的工具!

Since I was in elementary school, third grade, I fell in love with English. I was an English teacher assistant from elementary till senior high school. It not only enhanced my English proficiency but also let me become a well loved little English teacher among my classmates. I had always tried to challenge myself to join any kinds of English competitions held by schools. The most impressive experience was the speech competitions against my schoolmates as well as the students from all of the schools in Taipei City.

With my passion of learning English, I applied for Foreign Language Instruction of Wenzao Ursline University of Languages to gain more knowledge of English teaching. After I graduated, I got involved in the field of English teaching for many years. I kept asking myself how to retain my passion and motivation during the process of being an English teacher.

Gradually, I found the answers from my students' improvements and the smiles on their faces. Even though there is only a little bit of improvement, it keeps my love and persistence of teaching. I hope to inspire my students to love English with my teaching experience and encourage them to use English as a tool in the future!

從大學以來英文一直是我最熱愛的語言,從那時我便開始熱衷於閱讀英文的名著,也因此奠定了我的英語閱讀能力。藉由大學組織英語讀書會的經驗,我相當注重主動學習的態度,也深知創造英語學習情境的重要性;畢業後希望藉由教學將這份對英語的熱忱傳遞給學生。

對我來說,在台灣學習英語需要主動創造環境,這也是我努力在課堂上創造的;此外大量的口語及聽力練習也是精通英文的關鍵,我相當注重學生在課堂上英語應答能力、流利度和語調。希望培養學生們不但能流利說英文,還能有自主學習的熱誠。

Passion Is the Key

When you feel passionate about something, you’ll give everything you have got. When you choose to face all odds with a positive attitude, you can achieve even the most impossible. English is my passion and I especially enjoy expressing myself through English writing.

According to my own experiences, it is crucial to create an English-speaking environment to master it. I have organized an English study group when I was in the university and it has strengthened my English abilities. As a result of my experiences, it has encouraged me to motivate my students to speak as much English as possible in class.Students’ pronunciation and intonation are also essential for a complete education.With intensive speaking practice, the students can gain more confidence when they find that they can speak more naturally. I intend to share this passion with all my students and to cultivate their language skills in the future.

或許是因為媽媽有語言天分的關係,我從小並不特別排斥學習英文。我的英文成績一直是所有科目裡面最好的,也常常有老師稱讚我的發音很自然、很好聽。到美國留學後,才發現學英文的目的不單只是和外國人溝通,它讓我們用不同思維探索這個世界!
我在學英文的路上並不是一直都很順遂。在美國留學期間,我常常因為英文程度和外國人有落差而感到氣餒甚至想放棄。然而,也因為難得的留學經驗,我遇見了幾位認真負責、有耐心的老師,也得到他們不少得鼓勵;他們甚至羨慕我可以自然得使用兩種語言分享不同的文化。從那時起,我才開始有信心,藉由閱讀、聽新聞、看影集精進英文能力。
從我自己的經驗看來,在台灣學習英文的環境中,我們最欠缺的就是口說的機會,因此,我會把日常生活的元素融入到課程裡,用輕鬆的方式讓孩子們不排斥英文。身為老師,希望我不只是他們的學習榜樣,也能成為他們的心靈夥伴;在孩子們遇到困難時拉他們一把,盡可能地將自己在國內外的英語學習經驗分享出去,期許在未來,我能夠跟著孩子們一起進步、成長。

Since my mom is talented in language learning, learning English came naturally to me, thus my English grades were always the best among other subjects. Many teachers even complimented about my natural pronunciation. After I studied in the U.S., I realized that the purpose of learning English is not only to communicate with foreigners, but also to allow us to explore the world with different perspectives.

My journey of English learning hasn't always been smooth. During my time in the U.S., I sometimes felt frustrated because of the language barrier, and I even reached the point where I decided to give up. Luckily, I met some mentors who were very patient and responsible. It's because of their encouragement that I became more confident about my English. Since then, I began to read novels, watch news and movies to enhance my English ability.

Because of the natural environment in Taiwan, people have little chance to speak English. Therefore, I usually integrate daily elements into my teaching in order to raise their interests in learning. As a teacher, I hope that I will not only be the student's role model, but also be their friend. I hope I can give them a hand whenever they encounter difficulties, and share my experience from home and abroad with them. Finally, I hope that we can grow and progress together in the near future.

During my student life, most of my English classes were spent in a lively, happy, and exciting atmosphere, making English my favorite subject. 從小就對英語富有熱忱的我,卻在大學期間選擇就讀新聞專業,為的就是督促自己隨時留意國際大小事,增進閱讀外國文章、收看英文新聞頻道的能力,讓英文徹底融入我的生活,當一門語言成為日常必需品後,無論口說、聽力、閱讀抑或是寫作,便再也不是令人懼怕的陌生外語。

Since a few years ago ,the world has become a global village. English is not just a school subject, but a necessary language for people to learn different cultures and develop international perspectives.

It was a surprise for my family when they knew that I didn’t choose English but journalism as my major in college. Actually, studying journalism enables me to keep up with current events and improve my reading and listening skills simultaneously. And, most importantly, I can act as a bridge between students and the world.

What I want to do is not only teaching students knowledge from books, but also improving their interest in what's happening around the world. When English becomes an essential part in our lives, it’s no longer an intimidating foreign language.

When I was in the firtst grade, I was afraid of speaking English. It was all Greek to me at that time, so I used to have a difficult time with English. However, when I was in the fourth and fifth grade, I had a great English teacher who had lots of patience and was passionate for teaching. She always presented her English class in a funnier way and made students engaged in it. For example, she would use leaderboard game to trigger students' motivation of learning. Besides, she would encourage students to speak and write by doing some interesting activities.
By doing so, students would have more sense of confidence and were not being afraid of speaking English. Thus, my English got improved a lot at that time, and I started to enjoy learning it. By having this experience, I wished that I could be a teacher who likes to help students in learning and has passion for teaching one day. Therefore, I would tell my students that making mistakes while you are learning is not a big deal, but you have to learn from mistakes.

因為這份熱愛與堅持,我投入英語教學,至今已累積近六年經驗。因為我曾經甚麼都不會,且學習中遇到很多困難,這讓我能站在學生的角度,設計出更有共鳴、更實用的學習策略,我也希望讓他們喜歡上英語以及它的文化,慢慢培養出他們熱忱的堅持,這樣一來,不管在甚麼環境下,學生都會樂意學習。並將這項能力轉化為改變人生的工具。

English is one of my most treasured skills. It allows me to see the world with my own eyes, gain a deeper understanding of everything, and express my thoughts with a richer vocabulary. With English, my horizons have expanded. I can explore the world and help others connect with it.

But I wasn’t always good at English. It all changed when I met the right teacher, who ignited my enthusiasm for the language. I started participating in all kinds of English competitions, working my way up from consolation prizes to first places. I chose to have English as part of my daily life—not only when learning new information, but also when I think, write, and speak.

Out of my love for English, I started to teach. It has been over six years since I took on my first student. Having struggled with English myself, I understand the challenges students face and know what they need to improve. This allows me to guide them more effectively. My goal is to help students develop a true love for the language and its culture. With that passion, they can turn English into a powerful tool—one that will open doors for them, no matter where they are.
